COUNTY ARCHITECTS SPONSOR YOUNG FOOTBALL STAR
A young Cobblers player has received a boost to his career, for he has been sponsored by the county's oldest-established architectural practice, GSS Architecture. Founded in 1879, they have offices in Northampton, Kettering and Bristol.
Ten-year-old Aidan Peden has been playing left-back and left-side midfield for our Centre of Excellence for the past two and a half years, after he was spotted by a scout while playing for Corby Kingswood. He signed a further annual contract with the Cobblers in May last year.
Aidan lives with parents Lorna and John, and brothers Donald, 12, and Ewan, 3, on Corby's Lloyds estate, and attends Our Lady's Catholic Junior School.
GSS partner Tom Lyons said, "We do a lot of work with schools in the county, and we were delighted to be able to sponsor Aidan, who is one of Northampton Town's outstanding youngsters. The Cobblers youngsters play their home games at Moulton College, where we have been working for many years to help turn the college into one of the finest in the country. The Cobblers Centre of Excellence side play away games that cover the whole of the south of England, and our sponsorship will cover the costs of Aidan's training equipment as well as all his travelling expenses. Who knows - one day he could be playing in the Premier League.
"We certainly wish the Northampton Town juniors all the very best in the future, and we trust that many of them will go on to have successful professional careers."
Geoff Harrop, Head of Youth, paid tribute to GSS Architecture; "Our sincere thanks go to Mr Lyons and his staff at GSS for supporting the youth," he said.
"This is yet another example of the fantastic support and commitment from local businesses to ensure that the production line of youth Northampton talent continues to produce excellent results."
