Northampton Town signed striker Adebayo Akinfenwa on a deal until the end of the season in January 2008. Akinfenwa's career took off when he signed for Torquay United in July 2004. He scored 14 League One goals during the 2004/05 season but was unable to help the club avoid relegation to League Two. In July 2005, he moved to Swansea City after rejecting a new contract at Torquay, with Swansea paying £85,000 to secure his services. He scored the winning goal in the 2006 Football League Trophy final, in which Swansea beat Carlisle United 2-1. Akinfenwa also helped Swansea reach the League One promotion play-off final in his first season. At the end of the 2006/2007 season, he rejected a new contract with Swansea and after recovering from injury, joined Millwall, where he spent two months. In his career he has scored 42 goals from 89 starts and 51 substitute appearances.
