Stuart Gray praised his side for their performance in Wednesday's Carling Cup tie at Middlesbrough.

"Overall I think it was a very entertaining game," he said.

"We probably had the best two chances in the first half but we couldn't quite convert them.

"All the players will come out of this game with a lot of credit, they gave absolutely everything they had and at times we certainly had Middlesbrough a bit worried.

"It was a fantastic free kick from them for the first goal and there is not a lot you can do about that. We became a bit more open after they scored but we kept going and still created some good chances of our own.

"There two wingers were a real threat early on in the game but we hung on in there and kept going.

"I am in contact with the Chairman and we are hopeful that we can bring someone in before the deadline on Friday, but if that doesn't happen we only have to wait another seven days before we can bring someone in on loan.

"We are doing our best to enhance the squad, we have got certain targets but you have to keep your options open."
