Northampton Town welcomed Huddersfield Town to Sixfields for their latest Coca-Cola League One fixture. Ian Henderson was fit enough to return after a hamstring injury and was named among the substitutes by boss Stuart Gray. Colin Larkin won a recall to the starting line up in place of Ryan Gilligan.

Nathan Clarke had the first effort at goal of the game, but his 2nd minute header from a Joe Skarz corner was wide of the post. At the other end Mark Hughes saw his free kick deflected just wide.

Neat play from Poul Hubertz on 10 minutes saw the big striker turn away from his man on the Cobblers left and feed a dangerous low ball across the face of the box just eluding the onrushing Andy Kirk.

Good football from the Cobblers on 18 minutes saw a flowing move involving Liam Dolman, Kirk and Jason Crowe end with Bradley Johnson heading just over the bar, before a Hubertz shot on the turn was held by Matthew Glennon.

Bradley Johnson missed a good chance to give the Cobblers the lead on 28 minutes, firing wide from close range after Hubertz had flicked on a long throw from Andy Holt.

Mark Bunn had to race off his line to clear the ball away from Luke Beckett on 37 minutes, but seven minutes later the Cobblers had the lead when Poul Hubertz rose to head home a near post corner from Bradley Johnson.

Hubertz had a shot deflected wide four minutes after half time as the Cobblers broke out of defence, before Andy Ritchie made his first change for Huddersfield, Danny Cadamarteri replacing Malvin Kamara.

Andy Booth fired over the bar from Aaron Hardy's lay back as the game reached the hour mark, but within a few minutes the Cobblers had doubled their lead. The Moriarty Ltd man of the match Liam Dolman won a Terriers clearance back to ensure the pressure was kept up on the Huddersfield goal. His header found Poul Hubertz in space on the right and the former Millwall striker delivered a high ball into the box that Andy Holt headed powerfully beyond Glennon.

That lead was extended further on 66 minutes. Colin Larkin broke forward with the ball and slid a pass into the path of Andy Kirk. The leading scorer needed no second invitation to send a low finish beyond Glennon and into the far corner.

Hubertz then saw his low shot saved by the Huddersfield keeper, before Stuart Gray made his first swap, Ryan Gilligan for Colin Larkin.

Frank Sinclair came on for Richard Keogh in Huddersfield's second change, while for the Cobblers Ian Henderson replaced Kirk.

Danny Racchi was introduced at the expense of Aaron Hardy with nine minutes left, before Luke Beckett sidefooted wide from 6 yards as he met a Cadamarteri cross in a rare Huddersfield attack.

Play was soon back down the other end once again, and Hubertz delivered a delightful cross that was just inches away from the stretching Henderson.

Alex Dyer came on for Russell in the Cobblers last change to make his league debut, but this particular game was long since won, making it four games undefeated for Stuart Gray's side.
