* SPONSORS MAN OF THE MATCH

Northampton Town welcomed Walsall to Sixfields for the first of two meetings on successive Saturdays. This time, league points were up for grabs. Stuart Gray made one change to the side that had beaten Darlington in midweek, with Guy Branston replacing Liam Dolman. New loan signing Dean Bowditch was amongst the substitutes.

Poul Hubertz saw a shot blocked after 2 minutes in the first effort at goal of the game, while on 11 minutes Andy Holt headed a Colin Larkin corner narrowly wide.

Bradley Johnson sent in a long range effort off target on 13 minutes, while at the other end Michael Ricketts fired over the bar from the edge of the area after Tommy Mooney's handball in the build up had gone unpunished.

A patient build up on 18 minutes from Danny Jackman and Andy Holt ended with Colin Larkin driving wide at the far post, before Darren Wrack was booked for a late foul on Larkin.

A flowing 27th minute move started by Guy Branston saw Larkin feed Poul Hubertz, but his shot from the edge of the box was held by Clayton Ince, before Daniel Fox was booked after a dangerous challenge on Larkin.

Mark Bunn had to rush out of his area on 37 minutes to tackle the ball away from Michael Ricketts who had latched on to a long pass from Anthony Gerrard, before the Cobblers keeper was in action again, making a good stop from Darren Wrack's 25 yard drive.

The visitors had the lead in the final minute of the first half, Mark Bradley scoring at the second attempt after Bunn had done well to keep his first effort out.

Bunn saved from Mark Bradley in the opening stage of the second half, while at the other end Bradley Johnson drove just wide after receiving a pass from Andy Kirk.

Just before the hour mark Stuart Gray made three changes with Daniel Jones, Alex Russell and Dean Bowditch replacing Andy Holt, Joe Burnell and Andy Kirk.

Hubertz headed wide when well placed from a Larkin cross on 63 minutes, before Bowditch shot wide after Alex Russell's effort had been charged down.

Walsall's first change saw Ishmel Demontagnac come on for Michael Ricketts, before the Cobblers were denied what looked like an equaliser on 78 minutes. Guy Branston's volley from Danny Jackman's corner appeared to be behind the line before being hacked clear, but the assistant referee ruled no goal.

Mark Hughes headed a 79th minute free kick from Alex Russell just wide, before Poul Hubertz was booked for holding back Demontagnac.

With the Cobblers committing men forward, Ishmel Demontagnac doubled the visitors lead on the break on 86 minutes when he slotted home at the far post after a good ball from Mark Bradley.

Paul Hall replaced Sonko in injury time as the Saddlers wrapped up their latest victory to maintain their recent impressive form.
