Northampton Town welcomed Yeovil Town to Sixfields for this Coca-Cola League One fixture. Injuries ruled out Danny Jackman and Giles Coke but Daniel Jones and Joe Burnell made their first starts of the season. Ian Henderson dropped down to the bench.

The Cobblers came very close to scoring after 2 minutes. Andy Holt headed a free kick back across goal and Bradley Johnson connected sweetly enough with his volley, but the ball went inches wide of the post.

Lloyd Owusu was close for Yeovil on 6 minutes, heading a free kick just over the bar.

After Mark Hughes had received stud marks in his chest in an incident that had gone unpunished, Poul Hubertz curled wide from the corner of the area on 22 minutes.

Four minutes later Justin Cochrane gave Yeovil the lead, firing home after feeding off Owusu's flick on in the area.

Bradley Johnson shot wide of the far post with a first time effort on the half hour mark after Hubertz had laid the ball back into his path, but moments later the Cobblers were level. The big Danish striker drove powerfully beyond Steve Mildenhall from 15 yards after Andy Kirk had caused problems among the Yeovil defence on the edge of their area.

Before play could re-start Marvin Williams replaced Paul Warne in Yeovil's first change.

Andy Kirk's overhead kick from Jason Crowe's cross was beaten away by Mildenhall on 39 minutes, while from the second phase of the resulting corner the Yeovil keeper was in the right place to hold Chris Doig's header.

A 43rd minute free kick from wide from Daniel Jones struck the post with Mildenhall beaten, before Jason Crowe was booked for fouling Marvin Williams as Yeovil looked to break.

The Yeovil keeper came to his team's rescue again in first half stoppage time, tipping a Hubertz header over the bar to ensure parity at half time.

The Cobblers hit the woodwork for the second time in the afternoon on 62 minutes when Andy Holt's header from Kirk's cross struck the bar.

A Daniel Jones corner a minute later caused problems for the visiting defence and first Mark Hughes had a shot blocked before Andy Kirk sent the rebound over the bar.

Craig Alcock was booked for not retreating ten yards at a Bradley Johnson free kick on 68 minutes, while Craig Peltier curled a free kick over the bar at the other end.

Bunn got behind an effort from Ritchie Jones to make a low save on 76 minutes, before Ryan Gilligan was booked for pushing his man.

Stuart Gray made his first change on 79 minutes - Colin Larkin for Andy Kirk, and the new arrival almost had an immediate impact, his shot on the turn from Jason Crowe's cross being deflected just past the post by Terrell Forbes.

The resulting corner saw another quality delivery from Jones, but the ball just ran away from Mark Hughes and allowed Mildenhall to gather in the six yard box.

Yeovil's second substitution saw Anthony Barry come on for Marvin Williams, before the woodwork again denied the Cobblers, Colin Larkin's shot on the turn from 18 yards beating Mildenhall but again striking the woodwork.

Liam Dolman replaced Joe Burnell as the game entered stoppage time, before the cruellest of cruel blows, Lloyd Owusu drove home an injury time winner to give the visitors an undeserved three points.
