Ian Henderson was pleased to score his first Sixfields goal in the pre-season friendly with West Brom on Wednesday, but admitted the final scoreline was not one to relish.

"It was footballing lesson for us," he said. "They are a good team with a lot of technically very good players. They pass it well in tight spaces and hopefully we can take the lessons we learned in this game in to the season.

"We have to try and emulate West Brom. They were in the Championship play off final for a reason - they are a very good side. If we can work on the things we saw the other night in training, it will have been a worthwhile exercise.

"I was very happy with my goal. It was the end of a good move but I need to tighten up other areas of my game.

"I like to play off the defenders shoulder but I need to learn to time my runs a little better. I am here to score goals and I am looking to get in behind defenders this season.

"Goals are important and I want to get the highest goal tally possible. There is a good atmosphere here - the lads enjoy working hard and I have fitted in well so far. Despite the scoreline the other night I think we are heading in the right direction."
