BURNELL LOOKS BACK AT DARLINGTON DRAW
Joe Burnell admitted that the Cobblers team were satisfied to take the FA Cup tie with Darlington to a Sixfields replay.
"We always knew that it was going to be a tough game up at Darlington but I think we put in a good professional performance and we were happy to take the game to a replay," he said.
"The pitch was a bit bobbly and it can be quite hard when you play against a side who want to get it up front early but I think we did OK and overall it was a good result. I think playing with the FA Cup ball is a bit different as well, it seems to be a bit lighter than the normal league ball.
"It was a good strike from Colin Larkin for the goal but I think it did take a bit of a deflection.
"This season has been a bit difficult for me so far because I've been in and out of the side a bit with different injuries.
"I always work hard in training and I'd love to get another good run of games in the side. I had a bit of a back spasm on the Thursday before the Southend game which was a bit annoying but luckily it was nothing serious and I was back on the bench for the Bristol Rovers game.
"When you're not in the team it can be frustrating but you just have to get your head down, work hard in training and just get on with it really.
"The manager made a few changes to the team on Saturday and that gave the lads that haven't been playing recently including myself the chance to show the Gaffer what we can do. I think I did OK and hopefully I'll be in the team again up at Crewe on Saturday.
"It probably wasn't the prettiest game to watch on Saturday but we had good support, the fans were great and they really got behind us."
