Ryan Gilligan admitted the Cobblers were very disappointed not to get anything from Saturday's visit to Crewe.

"I think we dominated the game in the second half and we were very frustrated to come away with nothing," he said.

"We had a couple of good chances towards the end of the game but their keeper made a couple of great saves and Andy Holt hit the post as well.

"Crewe sat very deep after they scored and we were quite surprised at that because they are known for being a good footballing team.

"The first half was a bit scrappy but the second half was a lot livelier. Their goal perhaps kicked us into action and we then put them under a lot of pressure.

"Until the goal I think it was a pretty even game really, all credit to their lad he took the goal well but nine times out of ten he probably drags the shot wide.

"I think we have got a good squad here, everyone is fighting for there place in the side and I think we have got a very good tight nit group of about 19 or 20 players.

"I think we did get a lift when Daniel Jones, Bradley Johnson and Sam Aiston came on in the second half but unfortunately we just couldn't quite get that equaliser.

"I thought I did OK in the game, I probably should have scored with the chance I had at the end but their keeper made a good save.

"We are lacking that final finish at the moment but hopefully that will balance itself out over the season.

"It is a big game for us against Darlington on Tuesday night but hopefully the fans will really get behind us and we really want to get through to the next round.

"Our fans have been excellent all season, you usually get a really good atmosphere for a night game and hopefully we will put on a good performance for them against Darlington."
