GRAY OUT TO ERASE ELLAND ROAD MEMORIES
Stuart Gray says that the painful memories of the defeat at Elland Road will act as a spur for the Cobblers to put things right in front of a sold out Sixfields on Saturday.
A crowd of more than 20,000 would surely have been in attendance this weekend had room permitted, and the Cobblers boss said the players will use the occasion and atmosphere in a positive way.
"It's just a normal game for us on Saturday but what we are looking for is to put right the disappointing performance we had up at Leeds," he said.
"I'm sure there will be a great atmosphere here on Saturday and hopefully it'll be the first full house of a few to come this season.
"We were all very disappointed with our performance up at Leeds but saying that we were a minute or two away from them being booed off by their fans at half-time.
"We've shown before that we are capable of bouncing back against clubs who have beaten us heavily and hopefully that'll be the case again on Saturday.
"We need to come out of the traps quickly on Saturday and we need to put Leeds under pressure from the word go. We will respect them but we won't fear them and if we're at it and maybe get a little bit of the rub of the green as well hopefully we'll get a result.
"We want to start the game quickly so we can get the crowd going and we are playing well at home at the moment so we will go into the game full of confidence.
"I'm a great positive thinker and if we really want to push ourselves up the league these are the sort of games we need to win.
"We're on a good run at the moment but we need to keep that going. I'm shocked that sides like Leeds and Nottingham Forest are in this league and they have obviously got massive budgets compared to us but they are in this league and we meet them on an even footing. We are in this league and so are they, and there are points up for grabs.
"I've been here for just over 12 months now and my results so far are probably about 50/50 but if we can get a result on Saturday I think that will really show how far we've come.
"At this stage of the season it's all about results but if we can get a good result I want a decent performance to go with it.
"We didn't play as well against Brighton as we did against Leyton Orient and if I'm being greedy I'd like a performance as well as a result but at the end of the day the result is all important."
