GILLIGAN PLEASED WITH PROGRESS
Ryan Gilligan was pleased to be on the scoresheet in last Saturday's 2-0 win over Oldham Athletic.
"In the first half we were a bit sloppy but I think we controlled the second half and we were well worth our win," he said.
"The wind played a big part and I think it was important that we imposed ourselves on the game in the first fifteen minutes of the second half.
"We probably didn't use the wind to our advantage in the first half but quite often this season we've done things the hard way and that just shows the sort of characters we've got in the side.
"Andy Holt had a very good game on Saturday, he is a massive outlet for us with his physical presence but he is a very good footballer as well.
"It was nice for me personally to get on the scoresheet on Saturday because I hadn't scored in a while. I thought at first it might be going wide but luckily the ball came back to me and I managed to tuck it away.
"We've got a good group of players here and I would like to still be a part of that next season.
"I think the Chairman can see that we're progressing and I think the team's performances have picked up massively over the last couple of months.
"We've worked a lot harder in training and I think all that work we've put in on the training ground has paid off.
"The team spirit here is great, everyone is willing to put their body on the line for each other and that is the sort of togetherness you need if you want to be successful."
