The Cobblers final league placing of 9th in League One is their best finishing position in the Football League for a decade, and the first time in that period that they have finished in the top half of the Football League.

It is also a sign of the progress made by Stuart Gray's side that they have only finished higher in the league ladder once since 1988, and that was when Ian Atkins led the team to the League One play offs in 1998. Indeed, this finishing position has only been bettered twice in 40 years.
