"People will say that there is nothing riding on Saturday's game but we want to end the season on a high by turning in a good performance in front of our own supporters,"  said the Cobblers boss.

"It was a bit of a strange one last weekend because even though we were 2-1 up at half-time I was a bit disappointed with the players performance in the first half.

"We scored two very good goals and all credit to the players we turned it around a bit in the second half and maybe should have gone on to win the game.

"We created some good chances in the second half but I've said to the players the game lasts for 90 plus minutes and you can't just turn up at half-time. I think Port Vale were there for the beating but unfortunately we didn't beat them.

"It will be a difficult game on Saturday but what we need to do is put in a better performance than we did at Port Vale.

"I thought this league was stronger this year but I think looking at the teams that are coming up it is going to be even stronger again next season."
