Northampton Town Chairman David Cardoza is delighted to have concluded new contract negotiations with coaches Jim Barron and Ian Sampson.

This means, following on from the recent new contract signed by manager Stuart Gray, that the Cobblers first team coaching staff are all under contract for at least the next 2 years, and Mr Cardoza is pleased to have another piece of the jigsaw now in place.

"I am delighted that Jim and Sammo have agreed new two year deals to carry on their excellent work alongside Stuart," he said.

"Jim has a huge amount of experience in coaching, he is usually talked about as being our goalkeeping coach but he is also a highly experienced all round coach.

"The work he has done with Mark Bunn is clear for everybody to see. It was great to see Chris Dunn playing on Saturday and again it is clear that Jim is getting the best out of him.

"I have a lot of time for Jim he tells you how it is and that's a quality I admire in a person.

"Sammo is learning all the time and he could not be in a better position to continue his development working alongside Stuart.

"He has been part of this club for a long time and clearly loves being here, he is well liked and gives a positive approach to everything.

"I have no doubt that one day Sammo will make an excellent manager.

"The player management is now in place for at least the next 2 years which will undoubtedly keep continuity and stability - two components that can lead to success.

"Stuart is working hard to get his squad together for next season and we look forward to making some announcements soon."
