COBBLERS COULD MAKE FIRST SUMMER SIGNING WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK
Chairman David Cardoza has hinted that the club could be ready to make the first signing of the summer in the next few days.
"We know what areas we need to strengthen in for next season and I'd probably say that we will bring in five new players," he said.
"We are still waiting to hear back from Bayo but hopefully he will sign and then we'll be looking to add at least one if not two more strikers to the squad.
"We'd obviously like to keep Bayo, we've made him a big offer and I doubt that any other club will offer him what we have but you never know.
"We've offered him a year with a further year as an option on the basis of him starting games. There are a few other things in there as well but we're not too fussed about his fitness because we are pretty confident that he will come through that.
"Defensively I think we are well covered but we perhaps need to strengthen a little bit in midfield.
"Ryan Gilligan has signed a contract extension already and hopefully we will be announcing the signing of a central midfielder within the next week. (First news via SMS)
"We won't have the biggest of squads against next season because we need to keep the wage bill down but we will have a bigger wage bill and budget this season coming than we did last season.
"We will possibly use the loan market again but Stuart likes the loan market and it's not a last resort or a patch up. He likes bringing in younger players to train them up a little bit more and we saw that this season with the likes of Daniel Jones and Mark Little."
