GRAY WAITING ON BAYO DECISION
Northampton Town manager Stuart Gray is waiting for a decision on his contract offer from striker Adebayo Akinfenwa. Bayo has been linked with various clubs and the Cobblers boss is hoping the situation will be resolved soon.
"I have seen the reports from elsewhere but we are just waiting to hear from Bayo or his agent with his decision," said Gray.
"Bayo is on holiday at the moment but hopefully we will hear something soon. We have made him an offer - in my opinion a very good offer - and now we are waiting to see if he will accept that or decide to move on elsewhere.
"He obviously has a lot to think about and he will talk things over with his family, but hopefully the fact that we gave him a chance last season and his time here has been successful will count in our favour. He was popular with the fans and in the dressing room and I think he felt settled with us.
"Bayo did well for us last season and I think we did well for him. He scored goals and contributed to our good run and in turn we gave him the chance to get his career moving again and if that can continue next season then great. If he decides he would rather go elsewhere then we move on and the challenge we face is to use that money to try and improve the squad further."
