THE STORY SO FAR of ntfc.co.uk
Northampton Town's official website at ntfc.co.uk has been live since 1997 and has grown ever since.
Back then very little was on offer for online fans. Just news, club information, news, shop pictures and an online forum. That all changed with a relaunch in 1999/2000. An improved daily news service was installed, the fans forum was revamped and interviews with players, management and directors were published.
The look of the site changed dramatically with the introduction of imagery, advertising, commercial information and interactive sections for fans.Further improvements followed soon after as an online shop was added for the first time, before live match commentary was beamed around the globe for all league matches.
Dramatic changes followed in 2001/02 as FLPTV - a joint-venture between the Football League and Premium TV - saw all clubs in the lower three divisions take a giant step forwards into the digital age.
The site was overhauled completely with a fresh new look and audio interviews, while mobile, betting, auction and gaming partners were sourced. By now ntfc.co.uk was attracting hits of around 250,000 a month - with more pages than ever before.
But if the move into the FLPTV deal was a major step forwards, the following season's changes were like something never seen before for football club websites.
Pay-for online TV was introduced across the platform as the club unveiled Cobblers World, which brought fans extended match highlights, live commentary and an online match console. Monthly hits were now totalling almost half-a-million a month.
The site changed again in 2003 with a fresh new look and integrated TV - including free videos for fans, while the FLPTV deal was restructured.
Football League interactive (FLi) now took overall control of the sites, with Premium TV becoming its service provider and hosts for the clubs.
The club worked closely with PTV to launch a flagship Cuba website (the name of the relaunch project).
With more features and free video than ever before, plus an improved navigation, ntfc.co.uk is and has always been at the forefront of football website development. ntfc.co.uk is produced in-house by the club's media team.
