Northampton Town's youth team travelled to Gillingham on Saturday for their latest fixture in the Football League Youth Alliance.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw with Joe Benjamin and Shawn Richards on target for the Cobblers.

"Joe Benjamin scored a great individual goal to give us the lead but we then conceded two poor goals before half-time which was a bit disappointing," said youth team coach Sean Parrish.

"We stuck at it in the second half and after we changed our formation round a little bit Joe Benjamin crossed for Shawn Richards to score our equaliser.

"Overall I was fairly pleased with our performance, we didn't show enough quality on the ball at times but the lads stuck at it in the second half and this result keeps our little unbeaten run going."
